Cultural Trails

About

Throughout Greece there is a large number of ancient theaters, which constitute a powerful symbol of our cultural heritage. These ancient monuments, located mainly in open-air settings, regardless of their state of preservation and whether they are currently in use or not, represent an important and valuable element of the local identity of each region, as well as of Greece’s collective cultural identity. This is because they mark the beginning of the enduring Greek theatrical tradition, which continues to this day.

The objective of the Interregional Cooperation Project is the planning, organization, and operation of cultural routes in the participating areas, centered on ancient theaters, so that they may form an organized network for the promotion and support of Greek culture, and in particular of the timeless Greek theatrical tradition.
